Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using PDFJolt ("the Service"), operated by Israel Bain at pdfjolt.ca, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

PDFJolt provides online file processing tools including PDF manipulation, image editing, and developer utilities. All file processing occurs 100% client-side in your browser using WebAssembly technology. Your files never leave your device.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use PDFJolt. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms.

4. Account Tiers & Pricing

PDFJolt offers the following tiers:

  • Free (Anonymous): 2 operations per day, no account required.
  • Free (Account): 5 operations per day with a free account.
  • Day Pass: $2.99 (USD) for 24 hours of unlimited access to all tools.
  • Pro: $9/month or $72/year. Unlimited access to all tools, no ads, priority support.

Prices are in US dollars and may be subject to applicable taxes. We reserve the right to modify pricing with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers.

5. Payments & Billing

All payments are processed securely by Stripe. By purchasing a Day Pass or Pro subscription, you authorize Stripe to charge your selected payment method. Pro subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled.

You can manage your subscription, update payment methods, or cancel at any time through your account dashboard or the Stripe Customer Portal.

6. Refund Policy

  • Day Pass: Non-refundable. Due to the immediate, time-limited nature of the Day Pass, all sales are final.
  • Pro (Monthly/Annual): We offer a prorated refund for the remaining unused portion of your billing period if you cancel within 14 days of your initial purchase or renewal. After 14 days, your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use PDFJolt to:

  • Process, create, or distribute illegal content, including but not limited to child exploitation material, fraudulent documents, or content that violates applicable laws
  • Forge, alter, or falsify documents for deceptive or fraudulent purposes
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the Service
  • Use automated scripts or bots to access the Service in a manner that degrades performance for other users
  • Circumvent usage limits or access controls
  • Resell or redistribute the Service without written permission

8. Intellectual Property

PDFJolt's software, design, branding, and content are owned by Israel Bain and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You retain full ownership of any files you process using the Service — we claim no rights to your content.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PDFJolt and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising from your use of the Service.

Because all file processing occurs client-side in your browser, we are not responsible for the quality, accuracy, or completeness of processed file output. You are responsible for verifying the results of any file processing before relying on them.

Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if you violate these Terms, engage in abusive behavior, or use the Service in a manner that is harmful to other users or the platform.

You may delete your account at any time. Upon deletion, all account data will be permanently removed within 30 days.

11. Service Availability

We strive to keep PDFJolt available 24/7 but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may temporarily suspend the Service for maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of planned downtime.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts of Nova Scotia, Canada.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of PDFJolt after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We will notify registered users of material changes via email.
